This working paper combines the Best Practice Visualisations (BPV) that depict historical, cultural, and environmental data in various forms, such as maps, graphs, and databases. The BPV has been compiled, analysed, and evaluated for the visualisation purposes of the interdisciplinary project DigiKAR (Digital Map Lab Holy Roman Empire) which deals with collecting, modelling, and visualising complex historical datasets (about 1500 to 1800). This document aims to gain an in-depth overview of existing projects by evaluating the selected spatial visualisations. The first part of the document introduces our methodology for analysing the BPV examples. The second part, the appendix, profoundly discusses each item of the BPV collection in terms of their metadata, content description, types of visualisation (including interactions, basemaps, temporal reference, etc.), visualisation description (concentrating on the most important aspects of visualisations illustrated by screenshots and screencasts), and their evaluation (focused on GUI functional groups) for the context of the DigiKAR project.

Dieser Bericht fasst die Best Practice Visualisierungen (BPV) zusammen, die historische, kulturelle und umweltbezogene Daten in unterschiedlichen Formen wie Karten, Grafiken und Datenbanken darstellen. BPV wurden für die Visualisierungszwecke des interdisziplinären Projekts DigiKAR (Digitale Kartenwerkstadt Altes Reich) zusammengestellt, analysiert und bewertet. Das Projekt beschäftigt sich mit der Sammlung, Modellierung und Visualisierung komplexer historischer Datensätze (ca. 1500 bis 1800). Ziel dieses Dokuments ist es, durch eine ausführliche Darstellung der ausgewählten BPV einen umfassenden Überblick über bestehende Projekte zu gewinnen. Der erste Teil des Dokuments führt in unsere Methodik zur Analyse von BPV-Beispielen ein. Im zweiten Teil, dem Anhang, wird jedes Beispiel der BPV-Sammlung im Hinblick auf seine Metadaten, die Beschreibung des Inhalts, die Art der Visualisierung (einschließlich Interaktionen, Basiskarten, zeitlicher Bezug usw.), die Beschreibung der Visualisierung (mit Schwerpunkt auf den wichtigsten Aspekten der Visualisierungen, die durch Screenshots und Screencasts veranschaulicht werden) und ihre Bewertung (mit Schwerpunkt auf GUI-Funktionsgruppen) im Kontext des DigiKAR-Projekts eingehend erörtert.
