Die von Gerhard Mercator 1585 veröffentlichte „BELGII inferiores descriptio“ ist Teil des „ATLAS SIVE COSMOGRAPHICAE MEDITATIONES DE FABRICA MUNDI ET FABRICATI FIGURA“, der von seinem Sohn Rumold Mercator 1595 herausgegeben wurde. Ziel der Kartenanalyse ist die Bestimmung der Kartenprojektion und die Ermittlung der allgemeinen Kartengenauigkeit, durchgeführt mit „MapAnalyst“.

The „BELGII inferiores descriptio“ published by Gerhard Mercator in 1585 is part of the “ATLAS SIVE COSMOGRAPHICAE MEDITATIONES DE FABRICA MUNDI ET FABRICATI FIGURA”, edited by his son Rumold Mercator in 1595.
